Byron is a climate change specialist, with over eight years’ experience working in international and domestic climate policy and climate change aid. He was heavily involved in the design of the original ISFMI feasibility study in 2012 while at Australia’s Department of Climate Change and Energy Efficiency. He went on to join Australia’s Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, where he worked on the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change negotiations, including the Paris Agreement and the Second Commitment Period of the Kyoto Protocol. He also spent two years working as an adviser to the Co-Chair of the Green Climate Fund Board, where he managed the approval of USD 1.2 billion worth of funding for private sector focussed climate projects in developing countries. Byron holds a Bachelor of Laws (Hons), Bachelor of Arts (Politics) and Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice from the Australian National University, and is currently undertaking a Masters of Public Policy at the University of Oxford.
