From Oct 12th to 13th 2021 the ISFMI field team with our partners in Botswana had the pleasure of welcoming the Australian High Commissioner in Pretoria, HE Ms Gita Kamath, to learn more about our work in northern Botswana. Starting with a visit to our field sites in Kasane, HE Kamath saw first hand how our initiative is reducing emissions and protecting the World Heritage listed Tsodilo Hills from late dry season destructive wildfires. The High Commissioner then travelled to Gaborone, meeting with Dr Baitshepi Hill, Acting Permanent Secretary of Botswana Ministry of Environment, Natural Resources Conservation and Tourism, discussing this Botswana Australia initiative for reducing emissions while protecting biodiversity and supporting communities.

The Australian High Commission in Pretoria, South Africa, is accredited to seven countries in Southern Africa – Angola, Botswana, Lesotho, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa and eSwatini – as well as the Southern African Development Community (SADC).
