Research Report ‘Traditional Fire Knowledge in the Tsodilo Hills Enclave’

As in the case other Indigenous peoples throughout the region, the San communities have a long history of using fire management within this important area. The San peoples in the Tsodilo Hills area use fire as a tool for protecting and cultivating native food species, hunting and collecting bush honey, however in more recent times these practices have been suppressed as the threat of wildfire increased across the region. The ISFMI project together with the Tsodilo Community Development Trust has supported local researchers to work with the local community to document some of this history and practice. The report that emerged from these consultations can be downloaded here.
